                            RINGTONE ETIQUETTE

Those words that begin with DO NOT...

A T-Mobile survey of 2005 in UK lists 62% users with bad ringtone habits. Follow these simple rules...

  1. Do not keep the ringer at its highest volume. Easier said than done!

  2. Do not use annoying, high frequency tones.

  3. Do not keep the phone ringing for a long time.

  4. Do not use the phone while driving.

  5. Do not use ringtones at places of worship, hospitals, etc.

  6. Do not use ringtones for alarms, sms messages. Use beeps instead.

  7. Do not try to set ringtones or listen through the list at crowded or public places.

  8. Do not use ringtones for showing off. Use sensible, melodious tunes.

  9. Do not use religious tunes if you live/work at multi-religious places. Avoid this.

  10. Do not engage in forwarding ringtones. Keep this a private aspect.

And finally, given that UK is the nation of "mobile download junkies" :

  11. Do not be obsessed with ringtones. They are passe. Nobody now really pays too much attention to them, except may be school kids. What matters is that you do not use ringers where they are not expected, or not liked. Use common sense.
